Congratulations to our PSGS colleague, Fiona Sweeney, who completed a 99-mile month long walk in February for Woodgreen Pets Charity with her dog, Sidney.
Sidney, a 10-year-old Labrador Retriever who is officially considered “geriatric” in veterinary terms, took on the challenge of walking 99 miles with Fiona to raise funds for this brilliant cause. They pushed themselves each day to achieve their daily targets, which culminated in the successful completion of the 99-mile challenge with just an hour to spare on the final day of February!
Woodgreen Pets Charity is a fantastic organization that provides a loving home for pets that have been abandoned or given up by their owners. One of their centres in Godmanchester recently featured in a Channel 4 show called ‘The Dog House.’ The show captures the heartwarming moments when pets find their forever homes, thanks to the tireless efforts of the dedicated staff at Woodgreen.
To participate in the challenge, each walker was given a target of raising £100. Fiona and Sidney surpassed their target and raised £140.00. The collective group managed to raise just under £11,000.00 in total, which is a significant amount that will go a long way in helping Woodgreen Pets Charity in their mission to provide a loving home for pets in need.
